GARTEIG WINS RBC CUP as CANADIAN JUNIOR “A” CHAMPION with the PENTICTON VEES of the BCHL

Pro Goal Development goaltender Michael Garteig (Penticton BCHL / Quinnipiac NCAA) has won the Canadian National Junior “A” Championship with the Penticton Vees in Humboldt Saskatchewan.

Garteig has dominated the BCHL being named the 2010-11 BCHL Top Goaltender, 1st Team All-Star, as well as the BCHL nominee for the Canadian Jr. “A” Player of the Year in 2010-11 with the Powell River Kings.

Garteig set BCHL records in 2010-11 for Goals Against Average, Save Percentage, Wins and Shutouts for Powell River.

In 2011-12 Garteig was also named the BCHL Top Goaltender and 1st Team All-Star.

Garteig will attend Quinnipiac University and play for the Bobcats in the ECAC division of the NCAA next season.

GARTEIG LEADS PENTICTON INTO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Pro Goal Development goaltender Michael Garteig will finish his BCHL career off with a shot at a Canadian Jr. A National Title.  Garteig who will play in the NCAA next season at Quinnipiac for the Bobcats in the ECAC has completely dominated the BCHL in the past two seasons.

Garteig has been named back to back BCHL Goaltender of the Year in 2010-11 and 2011-12 as well as being the BCHL nominee in 2010-11 for the Canadian Jr. A Player of the Year award.

In 2010-11 Garteig set BCHL records for G.A.A., Save Percentage, Wins and Shutouts in a single season.

Garteig’s numbers the last two seasons in the BCHL with Powell River and Penticton are, G.A.A. 1.80 , Save Percentage .931 , Wins 77 and Shutouts 12 in 93 games.

WORNIG DRAFTED 85th in WHL DRAFT to VANCOUVER. SZUDOR 121st to LETHBRIDGE

Pro Goal Development was represented in the annual WHL Bantam Draft on May 1, 2012.

Stefan Wornig from White Rock, British Columbia went in the 4th round 85th overall to the Vancouver Giants.  Wornig played for the Semiahmoo Ravens Bantam AAA team in 2011-12.  Wornig was the biggest goaltender in the draft at 6’4 and 180 lbs.

 

 

 

 

 Eric Szudor from Edmonton, Alberta was drafted in the 6th round 121st overall to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Szudor played in the 2011-12 season with the K of C Bantam AAA hockey club in Edmonton and stands at 6’2 and 175 lbs.

Szudor trained with Jeff Battah previously before Battah moved from Alberta to Vancouver, British Columbia in 2010.

PHILLIPS and MAGUIRE IN FINAL NHL DRAFT RANKINGS

Jamie Phillips (Powell RIver BCHL & Toronto Jr. Canadians OJHL / Michigan Tech NCAA) and Sean Maguire (Powell River BCHL / Boston University NCAA) have both made the NHL Central Scouting FInal Draft List.

Jamie Phillips is ranked 26th by NHL Central Scouting.  Phillips  was traded from Powell River to the Toronto Jr. Canadians at the Hockey Canada trade deadline of Janurary 10, 2012 for J.P. Villenevue.  At the time Phillips was leading the BCHL in Goals Against Average, Save Percentage and Shutouts.

Sean Maguire is ranked 28th by NHL Central Scouting.  Maguire was the Gold Medal starting goalie for Team Canada West at the World Jr. A Challenge in Langley B.C. in November of 2011.  Maguire was also named the WJAC Tournaments Top Goaltender ahead of the top two ranked NHL Central Scouting international goaltenders.  Maguire has his hometown Powell River Kings into the BCHL Finals for the fourth straight year against the Penticton Vees.  Maguire posts a playoff record of 7-5 with a 1.94 Goals Against Average and a .940 Save Percentage with 2 shutouts.

LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA – HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMP July 16-20, 2012

Pro Goal Development is proud to announce that we will be returning to a full week long High Performance Development camp July 16-20, 2012 in Lethbridge, Alberta at Adams Arena.

PGD Hockey will be providing two groups.  A minor hockey group will consist of Novice, Atom & Pee-Wee goaltenders and an Elite group for Bantam, Midget and Junior aged goaltenders.
